July A Summer's Hectic Pace

It seems a lifetime ago now thinking back to July and I am amazed to realise it was only 4 months ago.

So much of our summer was spent outside, with lots of walks in new parts of the forest and snack breaks while we waited for one or other of the big two at a class.

The creek as they now call it was a new favourite and as we had been prompted to learn about damns by one of our natural curriculums, they wanted to make their own.

They also wanted to make model ones with different types of clay and sticks to see which would be most effective against the water.

Happily our family favourite theatre company, Illyria, came locally enough for us to catch them at a new to us outdoor venue and a fun production of Peter Pan which was just perfect for Ayla.

Gabe spent plenty of time howling at the sea with his crazy friends.

And the big two got to return to the theatre that they performed with their dance school to watch themselves on the big screen. Ayla was in charge of the Rainbows doll for the week so she had to come too, naturally.

Our Pride events began in earnest and Rainbow dolly came along again so Ayla could report back to the group.

During my clearing out and sorting through things in preparation for moving I found a few pairs of old glasses. We popped out the lens and the two were very happy with their new matching looks!

There's no better place to have a bath in the summer than in the paddling pool, especially with baby, whom she decided must have swimming lessons!

This picture will make little sense but it's of a mini engulfed in flames in front of a friends house which shocked us all and blocked us in as it was too dangerous to get passed. While half of the kids entertained themselves watching the fire brigade, Gabe and his bestie made good use of the pool!

She looked so grown up here doing one of her Kiwi crates while waiting to go to the Rainbows summer picnic.

I couldn't resist.

A fun and cheeky nighttime visitor.

Ayla very happy when waiting outside yet another dance class resulted in me giving in and going for ice-cream on a too hot day.

The relieved and happy smiles of Gabe and I after dancing in the rain after far too long a dry spell.

Gabe's end of term event at Embers for which he had created a display all about Japan and Japanese culture and crafts, and then performed in a wonderful and very funny play.

Maytime Fun

This month, like all the others this year, flew by.

A whirl of activities, long day, too short nights and plenty of fun.

Where would we be without Kiwi Crates!

There have been so many mini shows.

Gabe at his Tuesday full day group, Embers.

Our cat Kit who is not 'our cat' but spends hours in our garden every day.

Forest wanders with friends.

Trying out forest school with her big brother and what looks like a giant backpack.

Tea time antics on a sunny day.

Our Little Naturalist box prompted learning about ladybirds and finding out about their acidic defence systems!

We'd been meaning to go for literally months and finally got round to the local air museum for hours of role playing fun.

Heavy rain outside wasn't a problem once they found an air hostess trolley to play with!

And then a different plane added dressing up into the mix and I sat down with a book for half an hour!
