We have all the time and somehow still not enough which I don't understand.
We've lost family and friends in the last month. Some to the virus and others to pure tragedy. All of it has been hard and taught the same lessons over and over again just in case we weren't already paying attention.
It's a time of huge internal shift. One in which so much seems to have been stripped away. All the narratives and identities that we fold around ourselves. Some deliberate, others we wake up and have acquired along the way, but most are falling away and we're all left wondering... who are we really, and what is it exactly that we want going forward.
With all that doubt, confusion, grief, anger and exhaustion there has been the most beautiful light in these crazy kids we are privileged to share time and space with.
Never has it been more obvious just how utterly blessing we are or how full of gratitude I am.
There has been much baking...
and every kind of garden game and 'water squirter' found.
I showed the Elmer and we used empty milk bottles to make their own.
I crocheted a new blanket for Ayla who genuinely loves it.
And she discovered Lego thanks to the weekly lego challenge I post up on the home education fb group.
The small two have got into a great routine of going for a morning walk during school work time for the big two. They have a special hill Tom takes them to or over to the duck pond to check on the progress of the ducklings.
Gabe's been making his own french bread pizzas, and I've been making fresh naan bread.
Our veggie and herb garden has flourished. This is the last of the indoor pots, with plenty of others outside.
So thankful for the amazing weather to keep these guys happy.
They made cardboard box cars for the toys...
which the following day turned into ice cream vans, and have now been converted into ambulances for the bear hospital!
This made me giggle as I tidied up the garden one evening... it's Gabe's way of keeping his mud kitchen creations out of Ayla's reach!
We rediscovered a little woodland at the end of our road.
And have taken over the gym car park daily for a safe place to ride the bikes until their confident enough for the roads as there are still way too many cars around.
These two have classes a few times a week on their American online courses, and now I organise a social hang out online for a group of them weekly as well as teaching a philosophy class online weekly as well.
I've been holding women's circles online for the course I'm teaching, and trying to take yoga classes, but as always I have my little yogi with me.
To be fair to her though, she's never disruptive and loves to join in!
And then so quickly it was Easter, and time for an egg hunt with plenty of clues to lead them around the house and treats to locate along the way...
Tom had a huge day with the release of the new Four Owls album which managed to get as far as number 20 in the mainstream album charts and number 4 in the hip hop one. It's such a strange time to be releasing music but after 5 years, this album has been so eagerly anticipated its a relief as well as a celebration to have it out there.
And then there was me, my hammock, altogether too much YA fiction and this little madam cuddled up next to me before running off to play for another few minutes again.
I'm still busy, I'm still tired, but I'm not stressed.
